Terms & conditions

The terms for playing PROTEST, using its online services and hosting private matches.

Effective 26 October 2026 · The AECE Studio

Using PROTEST

These terms apply to PROTEST, its online services and its pages on this website, provided by The AECE Studio. By playing or using them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the game. If you are not old enough to enter an agreement where you live, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these terms for you. PROTEST is not meant for children under 13.

Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Your licence to play

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play PROTEST for your own non-commercial entertainment, subject to these terms and applicable law. The game, its name, software, maps, characters and other creative assets belong to The AECE Studio or its licensors. This licence does not transfer ownership to you.

You may share your own screenshots and recordings of the game, including in monetised videos, as long as you do not claim an affiliation with the studio or infringe anyone else's rights.

Your account

Online play uses a guest account that the game creates for you, which you can turn into a registered account with a username and password. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for activity on your account. Guest accounts live in your browser: if you clear its data before registering, we may not be able to recover that guest account.

Online play and conduct

When you play online:

  • Do not cheat, exploit bugs, tamper with the game or its network traffic, or use modified clients or automated play to gain an advantage or change results, rankings or rewards.
  • Do not harass, threaten or impersonate other players, in voice chat or anywhere else, or use offensive, hateful or misleading names.
  • Do not try to identify, attack or disrupt other players' devices or connections, or our services.
  • Do not report players falsely or to harass them.

We may review reports and match data, and may reset results, remove rewards gained unfairly, or suspend or end access to online features for breaking these terms, with notice where reasonably possible. Offline play is not affected.

Hosting private matches

When you host a private match, the match runs in your browser and your friends connect to it directly. Share your join code only with people you trust, and do not interfere with the match or its results. Private matches do not award experience, challenges or ranked progress, and they end when the host leaves.

Progress and items

There is nothing to buy in PROTEST today. Levels, attachments, cosmetics, season rewards and other items are earned by playing. They are a licence to use content in the game, have no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred. Season progress resets at the start of each season as described in the game; cosmetics you have unlocked are kept.

If we add optional purchases, they will be cosmetic only, and we will publish their terms here before they go on sale. Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

Availability and liability

We work to keep PROTEST and its online services running, but cannot promise uninterrupted access, compatibility with every browser or device, or error-free operation. Online play depends on your connection, our providers and, in private matches, the host's device. Modes, maps and features may be updated, changed or discontinued.

To the extent permitted by law, the game and website are provided as available, without additional warranties, and we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses caused by their use. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or removes your mandatory consumer rights.

Updates and contact

We may revise these terms as the game changes or as the law requires. We will post material changes on this website or in the game and update the effective date. If you do not accept revised terms, you can stop using the game.
