In-game: an Uprising round on Downtown, over-the-shoulder view.

How a round of Uprising works

Two teams, two rounds, and the sides swap at half time. The attackers have five minutes.

  1. Choose the route. Send the crowd up the Avenue or down through the Metro, then rally it forward. Gunfire nearby sends it into shelter until you regroup it.
  2. Carry the transmitter. Your weapon is stowed while you carry it, so your team has to cover you to Liberty Square.
  3. Hold the broadcast. Plant it once the crowd arrives and keep it running for 30 seconds. Defenders can close checkpoint shutters and cut the power to stop you.

Before you play

Is PROTEST free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy in PROTEST today. Weapons, maps and modes are never for sale, and cosmetics unlock as you play.

Do I need an account?

No. Offline matches against AI need no account. When you play online, the game creates a guest account for you. You can add a username and password later to keep your progress on another device.

What do I need to run it?

A recent desktop browser with WebGL2, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Graphics presets run from Low to Ultra, and you can install PROTEST as an app from the browser.

Can I play on a phone or with a controller?

Controllers with a standard browser layout work, and you can remap them. Phones get touch controls, but PROTEST is built for desktop first.

Is voice chat recorded?

No. Team voice is optional push-to-talk, your microphone starts muted, and audio goes directly between teammates. Reports never include audio. Read the privacy policy for details.

The square is waiting.

Start an offline Uprising round in a few seconds, or queue online with your party.
